This rare Biedemeier chess set is of superior form and large size. All 32 pieces appear to be original. The light side is made from fruitwood or boxwood with a lovely mellow patina. The Kings, Queens, Bishops, and Rooks have contrasting colored tops. The Knights are well carved. These sets were not weighted. |
