| Description: | Austin Enterprises 1962 Aluminum Chess Set. This Mid-Century modernist (EAMES) styled extruded aluminum chess set was designed by Austin E. Cox for Austin Enterprises and manufactured by the Alcoa Aluminum Company. It is in excellent condition, in its original box with the blue plexiglass sliding cover. The pieces range in height from 3.75" tall for the Pawns to 5" Kings. The white pieces are in natural aluminum while the black pieces are black anodized on all non-cut facets, including the bottom. All pieces have their bases marked with "1962 AUSTIN ENTERPRISES". The pieces nest in a specially designed 2.5 ft. long wooden (Teak?) presentation display case which is wall mountable using two special screw holes in the back.
