A Beautiful Rare Chess Set
Masters Collection in the Rajah style by Ambrite Industries from Visalia California
All 32 pieces are in excellent condition, they where made with an "antique" look
and are nicely weighted with felt bottoms.
Because they are hand-made, there is some slight differences in each piece (most noticeable in the Pawns).
Included papers (which I dont have) state:
"Masters Collection chess pieces are hand-made from the finest jewelers metals to guarantee a lifetime of playing and viewing pleasure. All pieces are 24 karat Hamilton gold plate or bright nickel silver plate to insure a lifetime of brilliance and beauty" (The card also states an unconditional guarantee).
Their was also a "Rajah" description card that tells the history of this style of chess piece: "European influences on basic Hindu forms" (see the rook, which is suggestive of an elephants head). Sale. |
