Designed by Felix Zen, who studied and was among the top graduates at the Sonneberg Industrial School. From 1888 until his death he worked as a modeler in the A.W.F. Kister porcelain factory in Scheibe-Alsbach, Braunshweig, Germany alongside Schober, specializing in Rococo and Biedermeier figures and the reproduction of historical scenes. This figurine delivers a fantastic scene of Napoleon (an avid chess player) and Josephine seated, focused on a game of chess.
