Description: Rare and unique bone chess set. Twenties century recreation in bone of the original Ivory set as described in the "bible" for chess collectors - The Illustrated Guide to World Chess Sets by Victor Keats (1984). In biblical times, an instrument called "Shofar", usually made of a ram s horn was used to produce sounds like a trumpet. Still used on some religious ceremonial occasions, especially during the high holidays. The original set, made in Ivory and Silver in the eighteenth century, was depicting various "Shofar" styles, plural "Shofarim". 2021.
