Unusual chess set fully captures the nobility, valor and mystery of the Age of Chivalry. Song of Roland - In the game of chess, the King is the Quest. "Let them encounter, great will be the fight." Ruggedly conveying the fighting concept of the game, each figure has been hand wrought in solid metal. The pieces are encased in velvet-lined wooden box with folding top (minor damage to the outside.) The light side is presented in an antique polished pewter, the dark in statuary bronze finish.
Fitted box approx. 14.5" x 14.5" x 2.25". An earlier cardboard chess playing board approx. 13" x 13" is also provided. Great condition commensurate with age. Sale. 2023. |
