Description: White represents Prince Dmitry Donskoy ("Moscowians"), note all weapons pointing up ; Black represents Mongolian Khan Mamai, note all weapons pointing down. By artist Garanin. Each piece is signed at the bottom underside. Board signed both front and back. Yuri Garanin has been an artist at Gzhel since 1980, renown creator of sculptures, chandeliers, chess-boards, and coffee-sets. His work is presented in The Museum of Folk Arts - Moscow, The State Russian Museum, The Museum of Gzhel. This is an amazing set. Hand made and painted. Board measures 10.5" x 10.5" inches and is mounted on four corner raised pedestals. Sold.
