| Description: | Vintage Japanese "Netsuke"(?) style chess set. This is a called Army of Occupation set because most of them were sold to the Army of Occupation troops after WWII.
One side natural (lightly stained) the other stained dark/brown. In original box 12.5" x 12.5" x 3.75" (when closed.) Inlay squares 1.375" x 1.375". Interior of the box was completely restored because of the deterioration of the original velvet. Beautiful green velvet interior of the box with covers to keep the pieces in place.
Set has a strong, typical feel and look of Ivory. Very good condition a couple of very minor chippings to two ears of the riding horses. Sold. |
